Truckers for Troops® 16th annual campaign to launch during Veterans Day week
(Grain Valley, Mo., Nov. 1, 2022) – The Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association is getting ready to launch its annual Truckers for Troops® care package campaign. This year’s event is scheduled for the week of Nov. 7-14, 2022, which is the same week as Veterans Day.
The fundraising effort has been an OOIDA tradition since 2007, dedicated to sending care packages to service personnel stationed in combat zones. Truckers for Troops has also helped a variety of veterans facilities in the U.S., including those assisting or housing wounded, disabled or homeless service members.
Over the past 15 years, OOIDA has raised more than $729,000 dollars, sent more than 3,200 care packages, serving more than 39,252 members of the military. The organization has also sent aid packages to 65 different facilities caring for wounded, disabled and homeless veterans, including the Veterans Community Project.
During Truckers for Troops week, a broadcast is planned for each day on OOIDA’s Land Line Now satellite radio show on Sirius XM 146. During that week, truckers can join OOIDA or renew their membership for $35, with 10 percent of that money going toward care packages. OOIDA matches the 10 percent dollar for dollar. Individual tax-deductible contributions to the Truckers for Troops fund are also welcome and can be paid to the OOIDA Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation. Truckers can also visit OOIDA’s tour truck, The Spirit of the American Trucker, during the campaign and sign up or renew their membership.
To contribute, join or renew, individuals can call OOIDA’s main number, 816-229-5791.
Here are more instructions:
During business hours, let operators know you’re calling about the telethon and they will transfer you to Membership. After business hours, go to OOIDA.com and click on “Become a Member.” Also, if you call after 5:30 p.m. central time, call the main number and press 1 – it will put you in a voicemail where you can leave your name and phone number for membership to call you back. You can join online or make a direct donation at OOIDA.com. (We have a page for donations only and more info: https://www.ooida.com/truckers-for-troops/). You can join or renew your membership with OOIDA for as many years as you like – whether it’s 1 year, 5 years, 10 years or a lifetime membership – at $35 for each year, and 10 percent of the total will go to the campaign fund, with OOIDA matching the money.
PACKAGE ADDRESSES Anyone who has a family member or friend serving with the U.S. military, and who would like for them to get a care package, can send the name and complete address to [email protected] and be sure to include projected stateside return date.
CARDS AND LETTERS Attention: Truckers for Troops, P.O. Box 1000, Grain Valley, MO 64029. Towns or school names can be included, but please do not include last names or other personal information. No particular theme, and not necessarily holidays or Christmas. All ages welcome. Packages go out in January or February 2022 and veterans packages are done throughout the year.

Green Island EV Corp. (“GIEV”) is an early-stage company founded to manufacture commercial, microtransit electric vehicles in Green Island, New York. According to BloombergNEF (“BNEF”), “Global sales of commercial electric vans and trucks more than doubled in 2021. Most of these are lighter vehicles, where the market is set to turn electric quickly in the 2020s" (Electric Vehicle Outlook 2022, BloombergNEF). Further, BNEF expects the commercial EV sector (buses, vans & trucks) to reach approximately 1 million in sales by 2025. GIEV is well positioned given both the NY State push toward school bus electrification, and its expected ability to sell its Type A electric school bus to adjacent microtransit markets such as shuttle buses for universities, public transit, and corporate campuses.
